Wools of New Zealand holding fall sale

Consumers will see savings on a large selection of wool carpets and rugs. Wools of New Zealand names Townshend CEO

Marietta, Ga.—The Wools of New Zealand (WONZ) has named Ross Townshend as its new CEO.
 He is also a shareholder in WONZ, and is a sheep farmer with 2,500 ewes on 1700 acres in the North Waikato area of New Zealand’s North Island. Townshend, an engineer by training, has a 40-year background in several primary industries including dairy, red meat and forestry. WONZ's partner, Ascend Rugs, brings new dimension to interior design

The entire Ascend Rugs collection can now be carried easily in a briefcase, ready to be positioned, resized and photographed to find the perfect match for any room. The New Zealand-based company has launched an augmented reality (AR) application for the iPad, making it easier than ever to trial and select from their stunning range of handmade wool rugs. Created with both interior designers and the consumer in mind, the app allows any rug from the collection to be seen, positioned and placed on the floor of a room. Wools of New Zealand introduces spring collection

Marietta, Ga. —Wools of New Zealand debuted its new spring sales event, “Brilliant Choices,” at Surfaces 2012 in Las Vegas. The Wools of New Zealand pavilion at Surfaces included the booths of 23 Wools of New Zealand brand partners eager to talk about the beauty, softness and durability of eco-friendly New Zealand wool.

“Brilliant Choices” was the hot topic at a breakfast for premier partners, retailers and their agents. Updates on promotional programs and LEED compliant initiatives that build on the value of the Wools of New Zealand brand we also discussed. Wools of New Zealand, Bloomsburg aid Pa. flood victims

Marietta, Ga.Wools of New Zealand and its Wools of New Zealand Brand partner Bloomsburg Carpet joined forces to aid victims of the September 2011 flooding in Pennsylvania. Thanks to a generous donation of 21,000 square yards of woven and tufted carpet, 329 families are now able to re-carpet their once flooded homes. The donation is valued at more than $300,000. WONZ WINNER: A California salesperson and a pair of lucky consumers were the winners in the Wools of New Zealand (WONZ) Live Well with Wool spring event. John and Ellen Kruger of San Rafael, Calif., were the winning customers, while Barbara Brown, a wool specialist with Tahoe Specialty Carpet and Design, in Tahoe City, Calif., submitted the winning entry. The Krugers, who purchased a WONZ-branded needlepoint patterned loop carpet by Godfrey Hirst, won an entire year of monthly “Live Well” services, including a personal chef, massage therapy, spa treatments and/or professional domestic services. Meanwhile, Brown was rewarded with the latest iPad WIFI 3G. Also, WONZ contributed $1,000 to Dress for Success, an organization dedicated to providing suits to disadvantaged women to help them launch new careers. Continue reading Al's column

SCHOLARSHIPS: One of the many benefits of belonging to the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) is its goal to provide educational and training opportunities for as many members as possible each year. One of the many things it does is its Trade Scholarship Program, which allows members to offset the cost of business and industry-related education and training. Regular member firms are eligible to apply for an annual maximum cumulative total of up to $500. Approved programs qualifyforuptoa50% reimbursement of the course or event, except for those offered by the International Certified of Floorcovering Installers Association (CFI), which qualify for up to 100% reimbursement. Also, up to $100 can be used for approved online training with reimbursement at 100%. To give as many people a chance to get a scholarship, WFCA announced it increased the program’s funding for the fiscal year beginning July 1 to $240,000. To learn more, call 800.624.6880.
