Dallas—The International Surface Event (TISE) has announced the call for nominations for the 2016 Best of Awards program, sponsored by Floor Covering News, Stone World and TILE magazine. The winning companies will be announced and awarded in the winner’s booths at TISE, scheduled for Jan. 20-22 in Las Vegas.
Participation in the Best of Awards program, which encompasses Surfaces, StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas and TileExpo, is free for exhibiting companies. Submissions may include a product, program, service, business practice or booth design the company believes has achieved exceptional success or excellence. A company may submit only one product in a single category, but may submit the same product across multiple categories.
Due to a rule change during the 2015 nomination period, submissions no longer have to be new. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 4.
Dallas—Mohawk, Quick-Step, Pergo and Columbia will be featured prominently in the North American Laminate Flooring Association (NALFA) booth #S7371 during the upcoming International Surface Event (TISE) 2015 tradeshow at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas Jan. 20-23.
The NALFA booth is designed to serve as a showcase for NALFA certified products. Only laminate flooring that meets the strictest criteria regarding quality can achieve NALFA certification. All Mohawk, Quick-Step, Pergo and Columbia floors are NALFA certified.

St. Louis, Mo.—The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) has announced its 2015 technical education schedule, including new workshop topics and locations. The NWFA has also welcomed 39 Partners in Education program members.
“NWFA and its Partners succeeded in 2014 in more than doubling attendance at its training events,” said Brett Miller, NWFA vice president of education & certification. “We are excited to continue growing the educational opportunities we offer professionals of all backgrounds in the industry. We project a significant increase in attendance again in the coming year, and plan to conduct close to one million hours of instruction.”
One-day educational workshops and four-day skill-level schools will be offered in 14 cities from coast to coast. NWFA headquarters in St. Louis, E.J. Welch Company in Chicago and Chattahoochee Technical College in Marietta, Ga., will serve as training centers. NWFA distributor members will host the remaining workshops in locations throughout the U.S. for convenience to students.
The NWFA will conduct two one-day training sessions in January in Las Vegas, in conjunction with the TISE West convention. The NWFA Certified Professionals (NWFACP) Sales Advisor certification workshop will take place Jan. 20. The Environmental Effects on Wood workshop will be held Jan. 23, and offers Continuing Certification Units toward annual certification maintenance requirements.
The NWFACP Certified Sales Advisor training covers product knowledge, subfloors, installation methods, customer expectations and preventing, recognizing and solving claims.
The Environmental Effects on Wood workshop is a comprehensive course that covers water/wood relationships, temperature and humidity, HVAC and humidification/dehumidification systems, and how environmental conditions affect wood flooring. The workshop will be taught by Randy Lenz and Janis Rozenbergs of Aprilaire and Roy Reichow, owner of National Wood Floor Consultants.

Dallas—The International Surface Event (TISE) announced today that space is filling up fast for the TISE 2015 education program. Discounted registration rates are good through 11:59 p.m. (CST) Dec. 5. The education program will take place Jan. 20-23 at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
More than 90 educational offerings including traditional classroom format sessions, show floor demos and walk and talk tours are available to attendees. Topics are designed specifically for floor covering, stone and tile industry professionals who wish to increase their knowledge and level of expertise in their field. Education tracks include Architect/Designer, Builder/Remodeler, Care/Maintenance/Restoration, Distributor, Fabricator, Installer and Retailer/Dealer.

The International Standards & Training Alliance (INSTALL) Carpet and Resilient Certification will be performed along with a demonstration of the INSTALL/NWFA Wood Certification on the show floor, Wednesday, Jan. 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) will be offering the Sales Counselor Certification on Tuesday, Jan. 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additional certifications will be offered by ACT, CFI, CTI, ICRI, NALFA and NFIC.
