Swiff-Train supports Hurricane Harvey relief efforts

Swiff-Train_TexasStrongGraphicHouston—Swiff-Train announced it is providing relief for Hurricane Harvey victims. The Texas-based company had three of its distribution centers endure the hurricane. Despite extensive damage to employees’ homes and property, all personnel are safe and distribution operations are back to normal.

In addition to rallying company team members from all over Texas to help in multiple aspects, Swiff-Train has established a YouCaring fundraising account to raise funds for the recovery efforts. To donate, visit

Swiff-Train has also created product, display and showroom floor promotions to assist its customers with showrooms needs.

Swiff-Train names Adam Adams new general sales manager

adam-adamsHouston, TexasSwiff-Train Company is proud to name Carl (Adam) Adams as general sales manager. In this position, Adams will oversee all distribution sales for Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas and report to Shane Calloway, vice president of sales.

“This is a newly created position to give top level management focus to our full-line distribution business within the TOLA area,” said Jonathan Train, president and CEO.

Adams joins Swiff-Train Company with over 15 years of experience in many facets of the flooring industry, most recently with Mohawk Industries.

Calloway joins Swiff-Train as vice president of sales

Calloway brings nearly 20 years of sales management experience in the flooring industry to Swiff-Train. He is joining the organization after eight years with Unilin Flooring, serving most recently as its vice president of sales.

“We strongly feel Shane is a great fit for our company,” said Jonathan Train, president and CEO. “As part of the growth of our business and transition plan, Don Evans will hold an interim position of general sales manager for Swiff-Train distribution. Don will continue to manage our sales force in the Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas regions.”

Swiff-Train to distribute Alston engineered hardwood

Swiff-Train Company appoints Barbosa as CFO

Barbosa joins Swiff-Train Company after 16 years with General Electric (GE), where she served as CFO for the energy, oil & gas division. She will be based at the company’s headquarters here and will report to Jonathan Train, president and CEO.

Barbosa previously worked as an audit manager and controller for various GE entities. She has shown substantial growth within the positions she has held.

Jerry Carter, the company’s current CFO, will help with the transition of the new CFO and will retire later this year.

Swiff-Train Company transitions top leadership

JasonTrainCorpus Christi, Texas—Swiff-Train Company has announced a transition in key leadership positions, effective Jan. 1, 2015. Jonathan Train has been appointed president and CEO. Jason Train has been appointed vice president of sourcing. Jonathan Train has served Swiff-Train Company for 20 years, and Jason Train will soon celebrate 12 years with the company.

In the transition, Ken, L.A. and Jeff Train will remain active in various aspects of the business. L.A. Train will also remain on the Board of Directors. The Train family is excited about the new structure and believes the company is well positioned for future growth.

Leading the industry out of the woods

No flooring product has benefited more from the uptick in new home construction and an improving economic picture than hardwood flooring. For some distributors, wood has risen 15% to 20% in 2013, after 2012 outperformed 2011.

“Wood has been the strongest category,” said Bruce Zwicker, president and CEO, J.J. Haines, the industry’s No. 1 distributor. According to Zwicker, the improvement started in late 2010 and slowly continued in 2011 and 2012, with 2013 the strongest of the three years. “The uptick in home building in 2013 helped sustain the momentum. It will be interesting to see how long such momentum continues as rising interest rates and other macroeconomic factors suggest a [slowdown],” he said. Continue reading Distribution: Wood
