Despite sour headlines, successes in High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C.—The news of the nation continues to look grim. In September, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the unemployment rate at 9.1%. Mortgage Bankers Association indicates that eight million Americans are behind on at least one mortgage payment. And The American Dream found during the first three months of 2011, there were less new homes sold than at any other time in our nation’s history. Yet, at last month’s Fall International Home Furnishings Market in High here, new collections were unveiled, new product catalogs were published, and— most surprisingly—several new rug showrooms celebrated grand openings. Nourison introduces Joseph Abboud Collection at NewYork launch party

NEW YORK—Nourison introduced the much-anticipated Joseph Abboud rug collection with a launch party recently at the company’s new showroom at 295 Fifth Avenue in New York City (FCNews, Sept/ 26/Oct. 3).

Nourison names Itty marketing director

SADDLE BROOK, N.J.—Thomas Itty has been named marketing director at Nourison. With more than 20 years of marketing and advertising experience, Itty— who replaces Dave Forman in the position— will be responsible for all marketing and promotional efforts at the company, including consumer and trade events, public relations, advertising, web and social media, and will oversee the in house marketing department. Industry's top selling products vary by region

Most products cross all boundaries when it comes to popularity—big screen TVs are in demand in New York as much as they are in California or Florida.

But when it comes to home decorating items like flooring, where a person lives in the U.S. plays a major role not only on the types of products bought but the particular styles used to spruce up the home.
