Atlanta—While exhibitors at Coverings may have had trepidations heading into the annual tile and stone show’s first-time venue here, the experience turned out to be a positive one as the traffic was steady and, more importantly, the impressive amount of orders that were placed. Show officials who tallied the numbers toward the event’s closing were happy with the outcome.
“The city of Atlanta told us leading into the show that compared to other geographic regions, attendees in Atlanta register late, so we kept being told, ‘They’ll come, but they’ll come late,’” said Karin Fendrich, COO of National Trade Productions (NTP), which runs Coverings. Atlanta—Spending most of its recent history in Orlando, Fla., many had concerns about how the 2013 edition of Coverings, the largest domestic tile and stone show, would fare with its change of venue. GROWTH RINGS: Congratulations go out to the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA), National Trade Productions (NTP) and Hanley Wood. Each have been recognized by Trade Show Executive (TSE) magazine for their annual markets as being either among the Top 50 fastest-growing shows in 2012 or one of the publication’s Executive Gold 100 honorees for Largest Shows of 2011 (the top shows for 2012 will not be announced until later this year). NTP’s Coverings and Hanley Wood’s Surfaces were among the Gold 100, while NWFA’s Wood Expo, along with Coverings, were named as finalists in the 2012 fastest-growing shows. Orlando, Fla.—Coverings, the nation’s largest ceramic tile and natural stone show, returned to its roots here from April 17 to 20 as more than 800 exhibitors strutted their stuff for the entire A&D community and more to see.
Things seemed to be looking up as reactions from most participants surveyed were very positive.
