Coverings Design Showcase emphasizes installation

Sustainability top of mind for tile and stone show

Orlando, Fla.—A trio of design ideas incorporating tile and stone will come to life next month as part of Coverings 2012 with the presentation of this year’s Installation Design Showcase.

Scheduled for April 17 to 20 at the Orange County Convention Center here, Coverings is more than an exhibition of tile companies showing their latest wares, noted Bart Bettiga, executive director of the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA), a Coverings co-sponsor. “The Installation Design Showcase exemplifies the true mission of Coverings: To bring all segments of the tile and stone industry together and amplify how these materials can transform both our living spaces and our world.” Continue reading Coverings Design Showcase emphasizes installation

Ceramic practices patience during slow recovery

Ceramic tile producers continue to make a splash with industry professionals and consumers alike when it comes to innovation, color, styles and expanded product offerings but, due to the economy, it still looks as though patience will continue to play a major role as conditions in the commercial tile segment slowly move forward.

Lori Kirk Rolley, senior marketing director for Dal-Tile, said the company is “cautiously optimistic” about the balance of 2011. “We believe the recovery will continue the balance of the year. Tile associations raise the bar for certified installer program

JACKSON, MISS.—The National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA), in alliance with the Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF) and Tile Council of North America (TCNA), have announced 2011 goals for the certified tile installer (CTI) program.

Since its inception in 2008, the CTI program has certified over 500 tile installers, noted Scott Carothers, CTEF’s executive director. “This year’s goal will be to extend and expand the existing roster to more than 1,000 certified tile installers.” Continue reading Tile associations raise the bar for certified installer program

Coverings 2010 puts emphasis on education

Officials for Coverings 2010 are preparing for what promises to once again be the largest gathering of tile products, exhibitors and industry professionals in North America when the show convenes Tuesday, April 27 and runs through Friday, April 30, in Orlando, Fla.

Education plays a key role at Coverings and this year is no different, as seminars for distributors and retailers span a range of subjects and feature high-caliber experts to offer tips and tactics for sharpening the competitive edge and improving profitability. Coverings veteran James Dion will address what is arguably the most pressing issue facing this segment in his presentation, “The Consumer in 2010. What Will Get Them Back?” This session will be devoted to a discussion of the top 10 trends shaping consumer behavior in 2010 and is designed to provide valuable insight into how applying these trends can result in greater profits.
