Shaw names Ford hard surfaces marketing director

Katie FordDalton–Industry veteran Katie Ford has joined Shaw Floors as the company’s new hard surfaces marketing director. Ford will be tasked with developing innovative marketing solutions for all hard surfaces product categories.

Prior to joining Shaw, Ford was with Beaulieu of America, serving in various sales and leadership positions, including leader of sales training at the corporate headquarters in Dalton. Additionally, Ford spent several years at Mohawk Flooring working as a West Coast territory manager in the company’s builder division.

“Katie’s professionalism and enthusiasm are engaging and welcoming,” said Kathy Young, vice president of marketing services. “She’s made an immediate, significant impact to the business and we look forward to her leadership and industry expertise to help drive additional growth and profitability of our hard surfaces categories.”

Ford added, “I feel blessed to join an industry powerhouse like Shaw. There has never been a more exciting time for hard surface flooring products and I am deeply passionate about developing the right mix of marketing tools to help accelerate our retail partners’ ability to sell more hard surface products.”

Ford is based in Shaw’s Dalton company headquarters.

Women in Flooring – Kathy Young: Deep roots, hard work instill humility, influence

Screen Shot 2014-03-25 at 10.55.32 AMAs a successful woman from the south, Kathy Young, Shaw Industries’ vice president of marketing services, is modest about her accomplishments. With a strong support system both at home and in the workplace, Young worked her way into a position to which many women in the industry aspire.

Young has lived in Dalton’s surrounding area her entire life and comes from a family with a deep history in the flooring industry, her mom having worked on the “blue collar” end in tufting and manufacturing while her father sold fiber.

Shaw helps to ‘Make It Right’ in New Orleans

Mill donating floors to help rebuild Lower 9th Ward

New Orleans—Following the devastation brought on by Hurricane Katrina in the summer of 2005, particularly to New Orleans and the residents of the Lower 9th Ward, throngs of groups and individuals converged on the area hoping to help rebuild the once proud area. Among those was international celebrity Brad Pitt, who formed the Make It Right (MIR) Foundation and dedicated it to rebuilding 150 affordable, green, high quality homes which would allow some of the many displaced families to return to their roots, their family history. Shaw introduces St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway sponsorship

Dalton – During a kick-off event held recently at the International Builder Show in Orlando, Fla., Shaw Floors publicly announced the company’s national sponsorship of the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. Throughout 2012 Shaw will support the far-reaching fundraising campaign as the project’s exclusive flooring provider. To date, the Dream Home campaign has raised more than $220 million in 20 years to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
