The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) held its Annual Membership Meeting on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center in Dalton. Outgoing CRI board chairman John Wells offered remarks on the current state of CRI, including the carpet manufacturing trade association’s 2012 restructuring process as well as the organization’s move into an historic building in downtown Dalton and away from the headquarters building it had occupied since 1971. The results of an industry-first pilot project with J&J Industries conclusively demonstrates it is both practical and economically feasible to remove dye and other additives from industrial wastewater, and to reuse the water in carpet dyeing in an environmentally innovative process. DALTON—J&J Industries has completed the acquisition of Templeton Hospitality Carpet. Templeton, established in 1974, manufactures and supplies carpet to the hospitality market segment with a focus on public spaces, guest rooms and corridors. DALTON—J&J Industries has been honored with a 2010 Excellence in Partnership (EIP) Award by the Coalition for Government Procurement. J&J received the award in the Green Contractor category.
According to the Coalition for Government Procurement, the Green Contractor award goes to the builder who has made the best overall commitment to the environment by either offering environmentally friendly products and services, or adhering to environmentally sound manufacturing and operating procedures.
