Claims resolution: Distributors ramp up efforts to aid dealers

Flooring distributors are uniquely positioned to facilitate claims for their retailer partners, and that success often hinges on “the three things that matter most.” So said Jeff Jaeckle, president of Madison, Wis.-based Jaeckle Distributors.

That trio includes:

1. A mindset of claims-handling as a valuable service rather than a necessary evil.

2. Streamlining the process to involve as few steps as possible.

Wood: Despite builder woes, the segment is still strong

Amid the deepening housing downturn in 2008, Jaeckle Distributors’ president Jeff Jaeckle decided the best course of action was to spend money. Specifically, he chose to invest in new product lines, primarily hardwood.

“We knew it would be a risk because no one knew what the economy would do, but we thought it would be a bigger risk to do nothing,” he said. “We added some new hardwood lines, including Mercier and Somerset. Flooring distribution: Change is the one constant, but some things remain the same

Jaeckle sells hardware division to Amerhart

MADISON, WIS.—Jaeckle Distributors has sold its hardware products division to Amerhart, a wholesale building materials distribution company headquartered in Green Bay, Wis. Amerhart’s purchase of Jaeckle’s hardware division includes over 11,000 product SKUs from manufacturers such as Grass America, Accuride and Rev-a-Shelf.
