Time running out to enter Best of Surfaces competition

The deadline is Dec. 27, and there is no cost to enter. Now in its third year, the competition, cosponsored by Floor Covering News and Hanley Wood, owners and operators of the International Surface Event, has quickly become a benchmark for product and program excellence. The 2014 International Surface Event, which includes Surfaces, StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas and the debut of TileExpo, is the floor covering industry’s premier trade show. Teague named vice president of Hanley Wood Exhibitions

Dallas — Hanley Wood Exhibitions is proud to announce the promotion of Dana Teague to vice president. The former group director of Surfaces | StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas will continue to have full P&L responsibilities for the two shows and will focus on launch opportunities, integrated initiatives and international development in the flooring sector.

Teague has been integral in developing innovative strategies to retain and attract key flooring manufacturers and grow increasingly successful events. Surfaces | StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas is the second largest revenue-product property in the division and is ranked 60th on TSNN’s 2012 Top 250 U.S. Trade Shows List. The combined shows span 341,419 net square feet of exhibit space and grew 4.1% in exhibit sales in 2013.

Teague has more than 20 years in the industry and has been with Hanley Wood for 13 years. She earned her CEM designation in 2012 and was recently named to Expo’s 2013 list of ExpoElite.

Each have been recognized by Trade Show Executive (TSE) magazine for their annual markets as being either among the Top 50 fastest-growing shows in 2012 or one of the publication’s Executive Gold 100 honorees for Largest Shows of 2011 (the top shows for 2012 will not be announced until later this year). NTP’s Coverings and Hanley Wood’s Surfaces were among the Gold 100, while NWFA’s Wood Expo, along with Coverings, were named as finalists in the 2012 fastest-growing shows. Las Vegas—For the first time in roughly six years, the mood at Surfaces was neither dour nor hopeful. Instead, it could best be described as confident, as in confident the bottom of the trough has been reached and business is not only finally pointing in the right direction, but has started to steadily climb toward brighter times.

And while no one would say the industry is completely out of danger from the free fall it was experiencing at the height of the recession, nearly everyone at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center felt they were on firmer ground for the first time in recent years. IBS and KBIS to co-locate in Las Vegas beginning 2014

Las Vegas — The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) today announced an agreement to co-locate the International Builders’ Show (IBS) and the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in Las Vegas beginning February 2014.
