Knudtson elected PFA president

LOUDON, TENN.—The Polyurethane Foam Association (PFA) announced that Lynn Knudtson of Future Foam, Council Bluffs, Iowa, was elected to serve as president of the PFA, the trade association of U.S. flexible polyurethane foam manufacturers and suppliers. Johnsonite gives back

CHAGRIN FALLS, OHIO—Johnsonite was recently involved in the 9th season’s premiere of ABC’s Emmy award-winning show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” (EMHE). This episode featured the Marshalls, a military family based in Fayetteville, N.C., whose home, also known as the Steps-N-Stages Jubilee House, is used as a transitional space for homeless female veterans. To help renovation efforts, Johnsonite donated 10 containers—approximately 900 square feet—of its Color Essence Vinyl Enhanced Tiles (VET) from the company’s Azrock Collection. Ga. Dept. of Agriculture partners with the Mohawk Group

MARIETTA, GA.—The Mohawk Group’s carpet is gaining the attention of Georgia’s leaders in sustainability and agriculture. SmartStrand Contract is now the featured carpet incorporated into the design of the Georgia Department of Agriculture building in Atlanta. The partnership comes at the same time the Department of Agriculture is revamping its Georgia Grown campaign, which helps retailers promote locally grown produce and locally manufactured goods to consumers. Distribution: Top wholesalers revealed in FCNews' survey

It has certainly been a rough ride for the industry the last four to five years, with sales off anywhere from 25% to 40% depending on the area of the country and the product category. Caught in the middle of all this are flooring distribu- tors who have had to reinvent their businesses in order to remain relevant to both their suppliers and retail customers. FCNews’ annual survey of the distribution channel reveals how industry distributors have done over the last 12 months. While most of the top players continued in their role, there was quite a bit of shuffling in the order in which they are now ranked. And, when broken down by resilient, hardwood and laminate distribution, there was more than just shuffling as a number of new names appear on this year’s listings.
