FCICA to host sixth webinar

West Bloomfield, Mich.  – The Floor Covering Installation Contractors Association (FCICA) will host its sixth webinar on March 13 at 11:00 am EST.  Jeff Johnson will present “Preparing Post Abatement Treated Subfloors.”

During the course of the webinar, contractors will learn about some of the common problems associated with abatement-treated concrete subfloors as well as a unique and novel way to prepare them for secure subsequent floor installations.

Johnson will review the various chemicals used by abatement companies and why there are often problems for bonding future flooring installations.  By the end of the webinar participants will have learned about test methods to determine moisture content in concrete slabs and have an understanding of the challenges facing floor installation post abatement, including new product solutions.

FCICA new commercial flooring buyer’s guide

West Bloomfield , Mich. –  The Floor Covering Installation Contractors Association (FCICA) is excited to announce the completion of the commercial flooring online buyer’s guide that is now hosted on the FCICA website. This commercial flooring buyer’s guide will not only list manufacturers’ information but will also include consultant contact information, contractor contact information, products installed, and types of projects in which the contractors specialize. The guide is open to all flooring contractors, manufacturers, and others who service the flooring industry.

“This is a powerful tool for the flooring industry,” Kimberly Oderkirk, executive vice president, said. “It is the first time an architect, specifier or owner can find out which contractors install a specific product or do a specific type of project.  We are proud to be able to host this valuable information on our website at www.fcica.com under the ‘technical resources’ section.”

FCICA announces keynote speaker, educational sessions for Convention 2013

FCICA's 4th webinar will be about cork

Join the Floor Covering Installation Contractors Association (FCICA) for its fourth webinar, “The Fascinating World of Cork.” Christopher Capobianco will host the session on Wednesday November 7, 2012 at 11:00am EST.

This introductory webinar will focus on cork floors; how they have been used for over a hundred years but in more recent decades have made a comeback because of their sustainable characteristics, functionality and unique look.  Capobianco, one of the industry’s experts on cork, will look at the history of the natural product, how it is made, cork installation and the basics of cork maintenance.
