Facebook and you: What the social media giant can do for small retailers

It’s 2013 and we are years into the ever-evolving digital age. Newspapers are going out of circulation thanks to online subscriptions, and the post office will soon stop Saturday delivery as less and less “snail mail” is sent. If you’re a small business owner, you have to be sure to stay on top of the latest technological advances or risk being phased out, too.

The Internet, of course, is the king reigning over all media and technology. And Facebook seems to be its queen. With 1 billion users and 167 million unique visitors per month, Facebook is the top way for businesses to reach customers. However, creating a personal page is much different from maintaining a Facebook account for business. There are a number of different ways to utilize the social media outlet aside from posting a quirky quote every so often and looking at your friends’ pictures. Mohawk utilizes social media for fall sale

Dalton— Mohawk is once again delivering industry-leading savings and special financing opportunities to motivate onsumers to purchase flooring during the annual Mohawk Anniversary Sale. Quick-Step hosts Facebook contest

Dallas—As part of Quick-Step’s overall marketing program, the brand hosted a “Room Refresh Contest” via Facebook, engaging over 18,000 consumers nationwide on Quick-Step’s Facebook page.  As a result of the competition, Quick-Step received a total of 5,000 new Facebook fans, increasing the brand’s nationwide exposure.  A majority of the Facebookers engaged during the contest also fit Quick-Step’s target demographic, helping drive the right kind of traffic into retail partners’ stores.  No purchase was necessary to enter the contest.  The grand prize winner was awarded a room refresh makeover as well as $3,000 in room accessories and a new Quick-Step floor.  The makeover was personally conducted by Erinn Valencich, Los Angeles-based interior design, style expert, and Quick-Step designer partner. Voting open for Mannington Commercial's tx:style challenge

Salem, N.J.—Voting has opened for the grand prize winner in Mannington Commercial’s tx:style design challenge 2012.

In the past four years, the tx:style community has grown to include more than 20,000 architects, interior designers, members of the media and other fans of product design.
