New York, N.Y. – Consolidated Carpet is proud to announce its participation in the recent renovation of the Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter’s (NCS) New York City headquarters. Consolidated donated adhesives and over 1,800 square feet of carpet tile to the non-profit organization, whose goal is to end homelessness for men, women and youth who have aged out of foster care in New York. Consolidated Carpet associates with members of the United States Marine Corps celebrating a third straight successful Toys for Tots collection.

NEW YORK – Consolidated Carpet proudly announces the success of their third annual participation in the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program. This annual holiday toy collection and distribution program serves to brighten the holiday season for local children in need by providing them with new toys. Greater New York Floor Coverers holiday party brings families together

NEW YORK—Members of the Greater New York Floor Coverers Association (GNYFCA) Industry Promotional Fund recently gathered here at Valbella restaurant, located in the heart of the city’s meatpacking district. Guests enjoyed great food, wine and conversation during the organization’s annual holiday luncheon.

At this year’s party, the association brought new meaning to the term “family style” as multiple generations of flooring contractors were represented when three sets of father/son teams posed for FCNews.

Starnet: Tight margins still plague contractors as business rallies

PHOENIX—Commercial jobs appear to be picking up in many areas of the country, but increasingly tight margins continue to make it a tough environment. Nonetheless, at the annual membership meeting of the Starnet Commercial Flooring Cooperative here, the record-setting crowd was mostly optimistic the worst of times may be over and the long-awaited recovery is starting to take hold. WE ARE FAMILY: When executives at Shaw say they want their retail customers to feel part of the family, it’s no joke. At its SFN convention in Orlando, Fla., the mill not only hosted dealers from more than 830 retail stores, there were over 725 children in attendance, making it one of the largest of its kind the industry has seen. While the company certainly catered to the needs of its retailers, it looked like executives were having more fun watching the kids run around the exhibit hall and evening receptions interacting with all games and activities set up specifically for their entertainment. As Randy Merritt, president, said, “We loving having the children here. SFN is 14 years old and many of the people now working the floor were once doing the playing. We’ve watched them grow up and get involved in the family business.” Continue reading Al's column
