IICRC looking for suggestions for e-newsletter title

Vancouver, Wash.—  To accommodate the launch of its newly redesigned and updated e-newsletter, The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) today announced its e-newsletter title naming contest. IICRC withdraws NSI/IICRC S520: 2008 Standard and Reference Guide

Vancouver, Wash. — The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) announces the withdrawal of the ANSI/IICRC S520: 2008 Standard and Reference Guide as an ANSI Standard.

The S520 Standard and Reference Guide will continue to be available electronically as an IICRC Standard. The S520: 2008 Standard is nearing the five-year mark for the ANSI revision cycle, and the new Consensus Body is currently working to revise and create an updated and streamlined Standard. The revised version of S520 Reference Guide will not be part of the Standard for purposes of ANSI approval. Carpet standards available for public review

Will greatly impact business operations

Vancouver, Wash.—In 2009, industry forces came together to work on creating a national carpet installation standard under the auspices of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Shortly thereafter, a similar standard was begun for the inspecting of carpet. Known as S600 Carpet Installation Standard and Reference Guide, and S800 Carpet Inspector Standard and Reference Guide, these two standards are now available for public review and comment. Carpet and rugs create a quieter, more comfortable, safer and sustainable environment in homes and businesses. But the carpet value chain consists of a lot more than merely manufacturing the product. Soon after distribution and sale, carpet has to be installed.

In past years, carpet installation was a trade handed down from employer to employee. But the quality of installation work was highly dependent on the quality of on-the-job training programs, as well as how receptive an aspiring installer was to that training. IICRC elects officers

VANCOUVER, WASH.—The 
Institute of Inspection,
 Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) 
elected its 2012/13 board
 and executive commit
tee during the organization’s recent shareholders meeting here. Darrell
 Paulson was re-elected chairman and will also serve as chairman of the executive committee. Patrick Winters will continue to serve as IICRC’s president.

“I’m honored to have been re-elected by my peers, along with 14 other outstanding industry professionals,” said Paulson. “During the next year, we will focus on refining and implementing our programs to meet the needs of our registrants, instructors and certified firms.” Continue reading IICRC elects officers

IICRC taking board member recommendations

Vancouver, Wash.—The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) has invited all materially interested parties to recommend candidates for the 15 available positions on the IICRC Board of Directors.

Successful candidates will serve a one, two, or three-year term that starts following this year’s Board meeting, which takes place October 16 and 17 here. Recommendations are open to anyone who has interest in the inspection, cleaning and restoration industry and meets the qualifications outlined in the recommendation form.
