Coverings Installation & Design awards recognize superior work in tile, stone

coveringsArlington, Va.—Four outstanding tile and stone projects have been awarded Coverings Installation & Design (CID) awards, a program that honors outstanding design and installation of tile and stone in the categories of Residential Stone, Residential Tile, Commercial Stone and Commercial Tile. An esteemed panel of notable editors, leading designers and industry professionals evaluated submissions based on execution, original usage and overall design and purpose, and gave special recognition to those projects exemplifying noteworthy tile and stone applications.

Following are this year’s winners.

Residential Stone:

  • Project: Art House, The Zajeski Project
  • Designer: CVG Architects
  • Installer: Blue Pearl Stone

Residential Tile:

  • Project: Contemporary Twilight
  • Designer: DKOR Interiors
  • Installer: Newman Brothers Construction

Commercial Stone:

  • Project: Energy Center III
  • Designer: Kirskey Architecture
  • Installer: Camarata Masonry Systems

Commercial Tile:

  • Project: Maurices Corporate Headquarters
  • Designer: RSP Architects
  • Installer: Twin City Tile and Marble

The four prize-winning teams, including each designer and installer, will receive $2,500 and a one-night stay in Orlando to attend Coverings. All winning projects are being displayed at Coverings 2017 on a video wall and on an award display across from registration. The winners will also present their projects to show attendees at 8:00 a.m. on April 5 as part of the conference program.

Coverings 2016 seeks submissions for CID Awards

Screen Shot 2015-10-15 at 5.04.55 PMAlexandria, Va.—Coverings, the largest global tile and stone exhibition in North America, is seeking the finest expertise in craftsmanship, creativity and innovative use of materials in tile and stone projects for its 2016 Coverings Installation & Design (CID) Awards. The CID Awards honor projects that showcase exceptionally creative designs and demonstrate technical mastery in the use of tile and stone in residential, commercial, international and sustainable projects.

The free submission process is open to architects, designers, builders, contractors, distributors, retailers, installers and other professionals who embody excellence in design and installation skills. An independent panel of judges will evaluate entries based on excellence in execution and installation; inspiring and original use of tile or stone; and overall design and purpose of the project.

Coverings will honor all winning projects on April 18 at the opening night celebration. Grand prize winners will each receive $2,000 and a one-night hotel stay in Chicago. Additional cash prizes will be awarded.

Tile, stone projects recognized in CID Awards

Screen Shot 2014-05-02 at 12.38.10 PMLas Vegas — Twelve tile and stone projects were recognized as part of the annual Coverings Installation & Design Awards, a program that honors outstanding design and installation of tile and stone in residential, commercial, sustainable and international projects.

The residential Grand Prize was awarded to Santa Monica, Calif.-based Robert Kerr architecture design for a beachfront home. In the commercial category, the Grand Prize was awarded to Camarata Masonry Systems and PGAL for their restoration in the five-story atrium of a historical courthouse.

In 2014, a new category emerged for the CID Awards, recognizing sustainable projects.  This year’s winning project was the Green House Building, an eight-story, single-phase office development in central Budapest.

Additionally, the CID Awards recognized nine other projects for exceptional work in tile and stone design and installation from around the world. Each project received a $1,000 cash prize.

Coverings 2013 calls for entries in two design programs

Coverings, The Ultimate Tile and Stone Experience, announced a call for entries for two of its most acclaimed programs, Project: Green and the Coverings Installation & Design (CID) Awards.
