CCA Global Partners helps members compete

Manchester, N.H.—During its annual summer conventions, CCA Global Partners businesses’ Carpet One Floor & Home and Flooring America offered members the opportunity to compete more effectively in its area rug business through the e-Commerce platform Rugs.Shop.

The website offers over 35,000 unique area rugs and facilitates the online ordering experience for customers. Rugs.Shop also supports the site with an online and telephone customer service team. Through this new program, members of Carpet One Floor & Home and Flooring America will be able to use the platform, customized to their local store, to offer this online area rug selection to their customers. 

“While customers still prefer to go into the store to purchase installed flooring, the area rug business has greatly shifted towards online sales,” said Charlie Dilks, chief product officer, CCA Global Partners. “Working with Rugs.Shop allows us to help our members compete and increase profits from online sales.

For a local, independent retailer, keeping up with the technology and support systems needed to effectively compete in e-Commerce can be difficult. The recent Supreme Court ruling on the subject of internet sales tax is just one example of risks involved for independent retailers trying to sell online.

The program offered through CCA reduces these risks significantly, if not completely. Participating members will receive a dedicated, branded site to use for their customers, creating a seamless customer experience. Members will also have the support of a customer service team, credit card processing and drop ship logistics services.

As an added marketing opportunity, stores can also provide their customers with a coupon to their rug shop after a hard surface flooring sale. On the sales management side, stores will be able to track sales to a specific sales professional in order to allocate online rug sale commissions.

Armstrong Flooring to service CCA through distribution

Arm_flooring_logo_black_posLancaster, Pa.—Armstrong Flooring (AFI) will now service the CCA dealer network through its distribution partners. The change was announced last week during the Flooring America/Flooring Canada and Carpet One Floor & Home conventions in Grapevine, Texas.

Charlie Dilks, chief product officer, CCA Global Partners, said during the Flooring America/Flooring Canada Building Buzz conference that the switch will take place Oct. 1, with Armstrong transitioning from a direct model to distribution. “It will allow us to focus on product initiatives with Armstrong which we haven’t been able to do in a while. Local service really matters and the distributors are stronger than ever.”

Since becoming a standalone company in April 2016, AFI has been focused on the independent retailer. The company has 24 distributors and more than 500 field representatives throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Armstrong is collaborating with CCA executives and its distributors on the transition plan to ensure agreement on pricing, credit, claims and other key elements.

In January 2010, CCA Global Partners and Armstrong jointly announced a relationship whereby the manufacturer would directly service CCA Global retailers, essentially bypassing traditional distribution. For CCA Global members, the agreement was expected to translate into better service on a local level. For Armstrong, it was intended to provide better communication and execution of programs and initiatives through the elimination of a layer in the distribution chain.

CCA Global Partners promotes Gundlach to VP, merchandising

CCAglobal-Logo-680x320Manchester, N.H. — CCA Global Partners has announced the promotion of Cathey Gundlach to vice president of merchandising for the Flooring America/Flooring Canada, International Design Guild and The Floor Trader groups. In her new role, Gundlach will chart the course for proprietary, private label programs and execute the necessary trade up strategies for three of CCA’s flooring businesses. These businesses represent full service retail, luxury and outlet models.

Gundlach first joined the CCA team in 2006 working for the ProSource division. Most recently, she held the position of vice president of hard surface flooring. With nearly 20 years of buying and merchandising experience, Gundlach brings her knowledge of vendor relations and merchandising as well as 10 years of experience in the hard surface flooring category to her new role.

“Her prior positions at CCA have made Gundlach an ideal candidate for this position,” said Keith Spano, president of Flooring America/Flooring Canada and The Floor Trader. “She has helped CCA enhance their hard surface programs and has helped develop new brands that fit the growing demand for hard surface styles.”

Gundlach brings with her a practical understanding of cooperative members’ needs from both a product knowledge and pricing standpoint, as well as, long standing vendor relations to immediately impact members.

“I’m thrilled to see Cathey take on this new role,” said Charlie Dilks, chief product officer for CCA. “She will be an asset to her new team and I’m sure she will make great strides for each of these unique businesses.”

Gundlach will continue to operate out of CCA Global Partners’ St. Louis office.

Thomas comes to CCA Global with 8 years of floor covering experience at leading floor covering distributor, W.M. Bird. & Co., Inc. During his time at W.M. Bird, Thomas served in various sales leadership roles, most recently as senior vice president of sales & marketing.
