CCA plans 10th annual charity golf tournament

On September 12, 2012 CCA Global Partners (CCA) will bring together industry colleagues at Barnsley Gardens resort located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains for a round of golf to benefit a worthy cause. The annual event hosted by CCA raises funds for the Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF). This year, the tournament will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Brodsky to speak at MDNVAFA event

Greenbelt, Md.—Howard Brodsky, co-founder and co-CEO of CCA Global Partners, parent company of Carpet One, Flooring America, et al, will be a guest speaker Nov. 16 at the Maryland and Northern Virginia Floor Covering Association (MDNVAFA) meeting.

The presentation, “Who’s Successful Today and How They are Doing It: A Discussion of Best Practices,” will begin at 8 p.m. following cocktails and dinner. The presentation will cover the business practices leaders in today’s marketplace are employing and how others can apply them successfully to their businesses. The cost is $80 for members and $90 for non-members. Cooperatives give local choices without compromising value

MANCHESTER, N.H.—The Choose A Co-op movement, focused on the importance of supporting cooperative businesses, will kick off the recently announced 2012 Year of the Cooperative. The Choose A Co-op video, which presents our current economic situation and highlights how cooperative businesses can help, was first released at the National Cooperative Business Association’s 17th Annual Conference for Purchasing Cooperatives and has since gained tremendous ground through social networks such as YouTube and Facebook. Alan Greenberg charity golf tournament raises $140,000 for FCIF

MANCHESTER, N.H.—The 9th annual Alan Greenberg Charity Golf Tournament hosted by CCA Global Partners brought together floor covering industry colleagues at Barnsley Gardens for a round of golf to benefit the Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF). The tournament raised $140,000 for the FCIF and to date, this charity event has contributed over $1.2 million in funds to help the FCIF in their dedication to financially assisting those who are or have been affiliated with the floor covering industry who experience catastrophic illnesses, severe disabilities, or other life-altering hardships. GOLF FOR CHARITY: Many industry golfing events are more than a chance for friends to get out on the links and to make to contacts, they provide an avenue to help raise funds for important causes—local as well as national. On Sept. 17, Tony Buckhardt of Carpet Cushion Supplies and an officer of the CFI, is hosting the 12th George Buckhardt Memorial Fundraiser. Held in honor of his father, money raised from the event is to help floor covering installers and their families who are experiencing catastrophic circumstances, such as from an illness or accident. Over the years it has helped with such things as paying for medication and bills to even helping a family with funeral expenses. Continue reading Al's column

Flooring America: ‘Blueprint for the future’

ANAHEIM, CALIF.—The Anaheim Convention center has seen the best of the best. Elvis Presley, Elton John, Johnny Cash, Dionne Warwick. The Harlem Globetrotters and Barnum & Bailey Circus, too. Add Flooring America members to the list, where its convention was held two weeks ago to great enthusiasm.
