ARDEX launches S 1-K waterproofing compound

Aliquippa, Pa.—Ardex Americas is launching S 1-K, a single-component topside waterproofing compound that is easy to use and produces a flexible waterproof coating ideal for showers, bathrooms and other wet areas.

“We’re excited to add to our waterproofing line this easy-to-use, single component solution,” said Russ Gaetano, senior marketing manager, tile & stone installation systems, Ardex. “Everything about Ardex S 1-K was designed to provide ease for installer, even the containers are oval shaped to readily accommodate a roller.”

Ardex S 1-K is recommended for use over a wide range of substrates and finishes. The workable consistency aims to minimize drips and splatters. Installers can flood test Ardex S 1-K in 12 to 24 hours after the second coat has been applied. It also provides crack isolation up to 1/8-inch. Available in two convenient sizes (large 3.5 and small .7 gallons), Ardex S 1-K provides coverage at nearly 57 square feet per gallon in two coats.

Ardex UI 720 Flexbone now available in sheets

ardexAliquippa, Pa.—Ardex Americas’ UI 720 Flexbone floating uncoupling membrane is now available in sheets for purchase at Ardex distributors throughout North America. The product is designed for installer convenience on smaller jobs.

Ardex UI 720 Flexbone saves up to 50% on installation time and cost and is an ideal solution for frequently changed-out floors or for use directly over an array of difficult substrates that would normally require subfloor preparation prior to installation. Ardex releases new self-leveling concrete topping with aggregate surface

Ardex K 521 is a self-leveling topping used for fast track resurfacing, smoothing or leveling of various indoor concrete and certain non-porous surfaces. Ardex K 521 can be installed from 3/8” up to 2”, walked on in 2-3 hours and polishing can begin in as little as 24 hours. According to the company, it is easy to install and typically requires less steps to polish when compared to other toppings.

Ardex K 521 has a distinctive aggregate-exposed surface when polished. It is an extremely durable wear surface with very high compressive strength and increased scratch and dent resistance.

Ardex Americas to expand Aliquippa facility

Screen Shot 2017-07-12 at 10.12.21 AMAliquippa, Pa.—Ardex Americas recently announced a major expansion of its Aliquippa, Pa., manufacturing facility, effectively doubling its size. This is the third such expansion for the company this year. In February Ardex released news of an extension for the Dallas, Ga., plant and is also currently working to expand the manufacturing footprint in Stockton, Calif. The Aliquippa addition, which is the site of the Americas headquarters, includes significant increases in warehouse and production capabilities to better facilitate Ardex’s growth strategy.

“This expansion is a direct result of our growth and allows Ardex to continue to provide innovative products to our existing customer base as well as meet the future needs of an expanding market,” Jesse David, Ardex Americas president, explained. “We are committed to investing capital into our plants and infrastructure to provide the very highest levels of service and support that our customers demand.”

The expansion includes the addition of a new production operation and additional capacity to support future growth. “We wanted to enhance the capabilities of our operation group and increase efficiencies in the long term,” Jim Masterson, Ardex director of operations, added. “This will help both production and storage and position us well for the future.”

The Aliquippa expansion project will continue in phases for the rest of 2017 and into 2018 but will have no effect on how customers are serviced.

FCICA, Ardex Americas, Nora Systems to offer scholarship in honor of Bruce Newbrough

The scholarship has been developed to provide educational opportunities to floor covering installation managers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to and excellence in proper substrate preparation and installation of floor covering.

“FCICA is honored, not only to have known and worked with Bruce Newbrough, but also to have this opportunity to work with both Ardex and Nora toward our common goal of a standard of excellence for installation managers in the Certified Installation Manager program,” said Gerry Swift, FCICA chairman.
