Valinge issues license to Dalian Kemian Wood

valingeViken, Sweden—Välinge recently announced it has entered into a global non-exclusive license agreement with the Chinese company, Dalian Kemian Wood Industry Co., Ltd. and affiliates for the use of Välinge’s 5G-C system on the short side of its engineered wood floorings. Dalian Kemian consists of a group of wood flooring factories including Kunshan KeMian. An engineered wood flooring manufacturer since 2003, the group started with mechanical locking systems in 2007 and has now taken the natural step to become a Välinge fold down licensee. Changes in supply and demand affecting lumber market

Hicksville, N.Y.—Citing the rising cost of lumber as the main cause, several of the industry’s major hardwood producers have recently announced price increases on their solid and engineered products. These mills include Armstrong, Mohawk, Mannington and Mullican.

Armstrong announced on May 29 that it will initiate a 5% to 7% increase in the U.S. and Canada on all solid hardwood and on select engineered hardwood products effective with shipments made July 15. Continue reading Hardwood producers announce price increases

Mullican enters hardwood market, three new adhesives

Mohawk announces hardwood price increase

Screen Shot 2013-06-05 at 9.30.23 AMDallas – Mohawk announced it will raise prices on all Mohawk brand solid and select engineered hardwood flooring products up to 7%, effective on all orders placed on or after August 5, 2013.

“The cost of lumber continues to rise due to the demand for wood coupled with a slower supply response,” said Jamie Byrne, senior vice president of hard surfaces. “This sustained increase in raw materials impacts all levels of our hardwood production. We greatly appreciate the support and loyalty we receive from our customers. In addition to offering the highest quality products, Mohawk will continue to provide the finest service, business and marketing support to help our partners be successful,” he noted.

Armstrong announces price increase on hardwood flooring

armstrongfloors_1327767050_600Lancaster, Pa. – Armstrong announced on May 29 that it will initiate a 5% to 7% increase in the United States and Canada on all solid hardwood and on select engineered hardwood products effective with shipments on July 15, 2013.

“The cost of lumber continues to rise due to the demand for wood sharply increasing and the supply lagging behind as sawmills slowly come on line,” said Kevin Biedermann, senior vice president, Armstrong Residential Floor Products.
