Novalis reaches HPD and Declare labeling for LVT production

Toronto — Novalis Innovative Flooring announced that it has now completed its product content disclosure to the Health Product Declaration (HPD) Collaborative, a voluntary organization dedicated to the improvement of the building industry’s supply chain through accurate reporting of product contents critical to health and the environment.

Novalis has also submitted its product content data to the Living Building Council for review and disclosure on the council’s Declare product label.

Both HPD reporting and Declare labeling initiatives by Novalis are a first for any China-based LVT manufacturer. “We are proud of this achievement for Novalis,” said John Wu, president and CEO. “Both are strictly voluntary and underscore our commitment to producing the highest quality and ecologically trustworthy LVT without exception.”

HPD provides architects, designers and building owners with complete and transparent information regarding building product ingredients, including full disclosure of potential chemicals of concern. HPD reporting contributes to LEED v4 points when Novalis flooring is specified and installed.

Declare labeling is often compared to the nutritional labeling found on food packages and focuses on specifics important to commercial specifiers, such as product ingredients, percentage of recyclable content, and possible potential hazards, to name a few. According to Wu, Novalis will begin using Declare labels on its products immediately.

According to Novalis, it was the first Chinese maker of LVT in 1988 and is the only Chinese LVT manufacturer with ISO 18001 certification.
