Milwaukee — Tandus Centiva is pleased to announce Highland Community School in Milwaukee as its “Green School Innovation” grant recipient for the 2014-2015 school year.

The grant funds totaling $3,000 will provide support to the Highland Community School for its “Permaculture in Practice” project. This project looks to develop a robust environmental education program including an outdoor green landscape, storm water management system, water conservation, food waste recycling (composting), sustainable food production and renewable energy.

“We are excited to be a part of their efforts in educating and supporting environmental awareness,” said Erin Istanbulluoglu, director of environmental & social stewardship. “We look forward to documenting their progress throughout the 2014-2015 school year.”

The “Tandus Centiva Green School Innovation Grant” is intended to encourage schools to develop creative, innovative, cost effective projects that improve the environment, make schools a healthier place to learn, play and work, and save money through reduced use of natural resources. Two commendation of excellence awards were also given to Kansas City Public Schools in Kansas City, Mo., and The MET School in Providence, R.I.
