“We are very happy to contribute to this worthwhile event for these wonderful kids, especially since it is literally in our own backyard in Las Vegas,” said Alex Peykar, principal at Nourison. “We believe strongly in giving back to the community we live and work in — whether it is in Las Vegas, New York, Atlanta, High Point, New Jersey, China or India.”

Nourison’s Personal Connection

Nourison’s Las Vegas showroom manager, Catalina Pericon has been very involved in the foster care system in Clark County for several years. Since 2008, she and her husband have opened their home to 11 children from the foster care system. They have legally adopted seven and are in the process of adopting the other four.

“It is heartbreaking to see these beautiful children without homes or parents who love them,” said Mrs. Pericon. “I wish I could take them all home.”

In addition to her full-time job at Nourison and taking care of her eleven children, Mrs. Pericon is also the director of the Never Give Up Foundation. The organization, founded by Matthew Cox and Dr. Kelly King, focuses on helping children with learning disabilities and their families. The foundation is a resource for the Clark County Foster and Adoptive Parent Association and also partners with the Department of Family Services on various programs.

“The majority of the children with learning disabilities come from the foster care system,” according to Mrs. Pericon. “This includes ADD, ADHD, autism and PSTD. Our role at the Never Give Up Foundation is to educate parents about their child’s condition and to also help the children deal will their illness.”

“Being an advocate for foster and adopted children as well as being parents to 11 fantastic children has enriched my husband’s and my life in so many ways. I think we get back from these kids so much more than we give,” said Mrs. Pericon.
