The 55th edition of NeoCon, the commercial building industry’s major trade show event, kicks off in Chicago this week at the renowned Merchandise Mart. Since 1969, the show has served as a leading platform for the commercial design industry and boasts countless learning, networking and educational opportunities for attendees and exhibitors alike.
The Fulton Market District will also kick off its second annual Design Days event, coinciding with NeoCon, June 10-12, where several commercial flooring brands have opened new showrooms and pop ups for attendees to peruse during the show. The event will feature product launches, exhibits and events. It also features its own welcome center.
At both shows, leading commercial suppliers are set to unveil their latest innovations created to empower the design community within all market segments—including hospitality, healthcare, education and more. New product launches will also cross flooring categories and offer up solutions in myriad materials.
Following is our Commercial Product Preview 2024, a sneak peek of some of those new introductions across the two shows.
Interface: Etched & Threaded
Designed to bring the warmth of luxury textiles into commercial spaces, Etched & Threaded features highly textured products inspired by patterns and forms found in nature. The collection, launching at Design Days, includes seven styles, offering designers choice and flexibility. Additionally, through innovations across its products, factories and supply chain, the company has achieved a low carbon footprint, making Etched & Threaded a responsible choice for today’s interiors.
Armstrong: MedinPure
AHF Products has relaunched Armstrong Flooring’s MedinPure, a PVC-free homogeneous sheet flooring solution with Diamond 10 Technology with Enhanced Traction in 20 new colors, which will be showcased at NeoCon. MedinPure is engineered with a meticulous formulation that prioritizes quality of care while providing an environmentally conscious flooring option. MedinPure utilizes thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), known for its flexibility, abrasion resistance and recyclability. It is devoid of plasticizers, orthophthalates, halogens, isocyanates and Red List Chemicals of Concern.
Bentley Mills: Pacific Standard Time
Pacific Standard Time is Bentley’s signature carpet collection that will debut at NeoCon in three standout styles. The all-over linear pattern of Now/Then resembles the milestone hash marks of a timeline. The continuity of time is captured with Chronologies, where every moment is blended and finely enmeshed, though some stand out more than others. Lot 45, which pays homage to Bentley’s history, shows the bigger picture through color and texture—periods of time punctuated by varied moments, all ultimately interconnected.
Tarkett: Layered Duality
Debuting at Design Days, Tarkett’s Layered Duality collection of high-performance flooring brings together diverse forms, textures and colors to create a dynamic sense of unity for interior spaces. The collection features four soft-surface patterns and two non-PVC plank and tile patterns. “Layered Duality encourages creative blending between elements, people, ideas and environments,” said Omoleye Simmons, Tarkett’s vice president of design. “By embracing different perspectives, we unlock a powerful experience of commonality and togetherness. And together we find balance.”
Mannington Commercial: Mend
Inspired by the timeless practice of mending, Mend modular carpet, unveiling at NeoCon, celebrates the beauty of imperfection and the craftsmanship required to breathe new life into cherished fabrics. Mend is designed to evoke a sense of warmth, nostalgia and the charm of handcrafted elegance.
J+J: Warp & Weft
J+J Flooring’s Warp & Weft carpet plank collection draws inspiration from the rhythmic motion of a weaver’s hands as they intertwine the various components of the loom. The result, to be unveiled at Design Days, is a fusion of textile artistry and technical skill, reinterpreting woven visuals into three 18 x 36-inch tufted styles: Reed, Quill and Tabby.
Bjelin: Contrast Collection
Through the fusion of technology and craftsmanship, the carefully curated Contrast Collection celebrates the distinct characteristics of Spačva oak. Bjelin seamlessly integrates contrasting pigments into the surface, highlighting the natural grain of the oak. Practical and aesthetically pleasing, these durable floors, available to view at NeoCon, suit environments bustling with activity while bringing the wow factor.
Patcraft: ReMaterial Collection
Patcraft’s ReMaterial, debuting at NeoCon, is a PVC-free resilient flooring that is fully recyclable at the end of its lifespan. Defined by its materiality and measured by its performance, the collection provides a holistic flooring solution that transforms material performance through circular design. Featuring a multi-layer core that can withstand extreme indentation up to 2,500 psi, ReMaterial is constructed for high-demand, high-traffic areas and is backed by a 25-year warranty. An ExoGuard+ finish resists scratches and abrasions, ensuring long-lasting quality and appearance retention. Products can be fully recycled through Patcraft’s re[TURN] reclamation program to be turned into the material ingredients to make other EcoWorx products.
Shaw Contract: Art + Science
Art + Science is Shaw Contract’s first EcoWorx Resilient collection, building upon the success of the EcoWorx carpet tile backing. EcoWorx Resilient is a new PVC-free/non-vinyl flooring product that is fully recyclable and covered by Shaw’s Environmental Guarantee through its re[TURN] Reclamation program. EcoWorx Resilient can be made into new EcoWorx carpet tile and EcoWorx resilient flooring at the end of its useful life. The line will launch at NeoCon.
Milliken: First Sight
Milliken’s newest carpet tile collection, First Sight, is designed to flow in any space. Its neutral palette and metallic accents are crafted to highlight the ephemeral beauty of watery reflections. First Sight will be debuted at Design Days.
Karndean: Art Select
With a 30-mil wear layer, the Art Select collection aims to elevate LVT design to an artform, combining artistry, craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology to replicate hardwood and stone in exacting detail—all the way down to a hand-etched emboss precisely tracing a wood grain. Look for Art Select at NeoCon.
Econyl: New Wave
The Phoenix from New Weave, unveiling at NeoCon, is created with a 3D weaving technique and is crafted entirely from 100% Econyl nylon. The rug is part of Aquafil’s “Born Regenerated to be Regenerable” initiative (R2R), ensuring the rug is designed for recycling and regeneration at the end of its useful life.
Mohawk Group: ReWilded Refuge
Mohawk Group will introduce ReWilded Refuge, a new carpet tile collection inspired by the growing movement of rewilding—the restoration of natural ecosystems within urban environments, at Design Days. ReWilded Refuge is designed to reflect the balance between human innovation and the untamed beauty of nature. Drawing inspiration from iconic rewilding projects like New York City’s High Line, the collection aims to resonate with those who value sustainability and design excellence.
