Sugar Valley, Ga.—Karastan’s Myanmar Aquamarine, part of its Spice Market Collection, received the 2016 America’s Magnificent Carpet Award in the machine made category at the recent Atlanta International Rug Market.

Winners were chosen by an independent panel and announced at a gala event Jan. 15 at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in downtown Atlanta. The award honors rug designs in five categories: hand hooked/hand tufted, hand knotted/flat weave, machine made, outdoor and licensee.

Like all rugs in Karastan’s Spice Market Collection, Myanmar Aquamarine features global influences and modern spirit. “We searched high and low for antique rugs that intrigued and inspired us to use as a basis for the development of these rugs,” said Tracy Alan Pruitt, vice president of design, Karastan. “Each rug is then afforded a modern, unique allure from distinctive details like eroded edges, ombres and color shifting.”
