Sugar Valley, Ga. — Designer Bob Timberlake, who has a long and successful track record in the home furnishings industry, will bring his passion for rugs to a new partnership with Mohawk Home, the company announced.
Timberlake’s previous licensing agreement was with Shaw Living. However, when Shaw exited the rug category earlier this year, Mohawk stepped in to bring Timberlake’s designs to the 2014 markets. This year Mohawk will be introducing five collections under the Bob Timberlake name. In July, buyers will see several new pieces from the collections at Karastan’s showrooms at the Atlanta Rug Market and the Las Vegas Market.
“We saw a great opportunity to work with Bob, and he saw an opportunity to work with us,” said Brandon Culpepper, vice president of specialty sales for Mohawk Home. “Bob Timberlake is an exceptional designer. We are excited to execute his color and design ideas for the rug market with our advanced fiber technology. Together, we can offer amazingly beautiful rugs made of a variety of high-performance fibers.
“We don’t often forge these types of collaborations, but this one seems a perfect fit: a well-known American designer with a company that values made in the U.S.A. products. With Bob Timberlake, we feel a real synergy and an opportunity to do some truly creative things.”
The Bob Timberlake Collections will be its own brand and will feature several styles including contemporary, traditional, transitional and lodge. Timberlake rugs will range from woven rugs made of soft, renewably resourced SmartStrand and rugs crafted of Permastrand to printed nylon rugs and even braided rugs.
“Braided rugs are new for us,” Culpepper said. “This will be the first time ever we have offered this quintessential American style.”
To launch this new partnership, Bob Timberlake will be at the Atlanta Rug Market in the Karastan Rugs showroom, AmericasMart 3-A-1, on Wednesday, July 9. He will be signing art and interacting with customers during the day in the showroom and at a wine-and-cheese event on Wednesday night.
