Johnson City, Tenn.—Mullican Flooring, a leading U.S. hardwood flooring producer, has introduced three new adhesives to the hardwood flooring market – one of which also doubles as a revolutionary subfloor protection system and carries a lifetime moisture warranty.

These are the first supply adhesives for glue-down hardwood floors ever offered by Mullican, one of the top five hardwood flooring manufacturers in the country. The company is headquartered in Johnson City, Tenn., with additional manufacturing sites in Norton, Va.; Holland, N.Y.; and Ronceverte, W.Va.

Mullican brings three new adhesives to the market: MP 3001 and QP 2001, both moisture cure urethane adhesives; and QP 1001, an acrylic adhesive that also meets stringent standards of the Carpet and Rug Institute’s (CRI) Green Label Plus certification.

All three adhesives are designed for use with Mullican’s glue-down engineered products. They are also LEED-compliant, meaning they meet the strict standards of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification program, which operates under the auspices of the U.S. Green Building Council.

“We are extremely excited to be entering the supplies segment of the hardwood flooring industry,” says Mullican Flooring President Neil Poland. “We are bringing innovative research and development to the marketplace through our MP 3001 adhesive, which we believe is groundbreaking in the industry.”

The company’s MP 3001 adhesive is one of the first affordable adhesives on the market that performs the double function of being both a premium adhesive and a lifetime-warranted subfloor moisture protection system when used to install glue-down Mullican engineered products.

“MP 3001 is the crown jewel of the three adhesives,” says Brian Greenwell, Mullican’s vice president of sales and marketing. “The product is among just a few modestly priced installation adhesives available to consumers that are both an adhesive and provide lifetime-warranted moisture protection on subfloors. You’re getting two benefits at once, but it’s no more difficult for the installer to use than the standard glue-down installation.”

Another selling point is that each five-gallon container of MP 3001 also comes with a specially designed trowel for added convenience for the installer.

The second Mullican adhesive, the QP 2001, is also a premium-grade, moisture cure urethane adhesive. Extremely strong, this product is designed to be highly workable and easily cleaned up with mineral spirits, even after being partially dried.

Mullican’s third adhesive, QP 1001, is a premium-grade acrylic adhesive for installing engineered hardwood flooring. Its acrylic makeup provides additional LEED credits in the development of green-building projects. QP 1001 has also received the CRI Green Label Plus certification, which means the adhesive has one of the lowest emission levels of chemicals and volatile organic compounds on the market.

“Our adhesives can be used to install other brands of glue-down hardwood flooring, but we are specifically recommending that consumers use our MP 3001 adhesive with any glue-down engineered floors made by Mullican – due to the added benefit of also carrying a lifetime-warranted moisture protection system,” Poland says. “The dual purpose of this product makes it the most economical adhesive moisture-protection system on the market.”

Mullican Flooring manufactures and sells hardwood flooring via a network of 40 distributors and 5,000 retail stores across the United States and Canada. For more information about the company and its products, visit www.mullicanflooring.com.
