Green Bay, Wis. – Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Wisconsin has awarded H.J. Martin and Son two 2012 Build Wisconsin Specialty Contractor Awards in the categories of Interior and Exterior Finishes. This marks the seventh consecutive year H.J. Martin was honored with an AGC award.

“The H.J. Martin and Son team prides itself on its consistent excellence, and the fact that we continue to receive these annual awards from the Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin affirms the quality of our work,” CEO Edward Martin said. “We are pleased to once again accept these awards.”

H.J. Martin and Son received the first award for its precision work on the interior finishes in the University of Wisconsin-Madison Union South, which opened in April 2011. The nearly 277,000-square foot building has an organic, Prairie-style design influenced by notable Wisconsin architect Frank Lloyd Wright. H.J. Martin and Son was recognized for its floor installation in the high-traffic facility.

The second AGC award was for H.J. Martin’s installation work on the black glass windows for the Knight Development Building in De Pere, Wis. The building is owned by SparkNET, a high-technology Internet firm and mobile app development company; H.J. Martin’s 17,000 square feet of glass installation was acknowledged for enhancing the building’s curb appeal. Additionally, H.J. Martin was recognized for its environmentally friendly work on the project, with 92 percent of the utilized aluminum comprised from recycled materials.

“Both of these projects are examples of how we exceed our clients’ needs,” Jim Kaczrowski, project manager in the glass division, noted. “SparkNET wanted the design to reflect their innovative capabilities and uniqueness, and the use of black glass windows helped give this project that feeling.”

The AGC of Wisconsin awards were presented to the H.J. Martin and Son team on Dec. 6, 2012, at Lambeau Field.
