Through a strategic partnership, StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas and the Marble Institute of America (MIA) will offer five free education sessions at StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas 2013. Anyone with exhibits registration can attend the free MIA featured sessions. Registration is required and space is limited.

“We are proud of our partnership with the Marble Institute of America and we’re very excited that they are actively enhancing the StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas education program with these free sessions” said Dana Teague, group director, Surfaces | StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas. “Our education program continues to be the reason many attendees come to the show. The free MIA featured sessions add more value to the program for attendees.”

The Surfaces | StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas top-quality education program, led by industry experts, features the latest information and strategies to help attendees improve their businesses and plan for the future. Topics focus on eight vital areas: sales/marketing, flooring installation, building designs and trends, business, sustainability, care/maintenance/restoration, stone fabrication/installation and tile installation.

MIATU1T: How to Introduce CEU Classes to Connect with the Design Community

Want to expand your outreach to architects and interior designers?  Consider providing CEUs to the design community.  This session will showcase how the various CEU programs work (AIA, ASID, IDC, IDEC, IIDA, NKBA) and how to position your company as the leading expert in your marketplace.

MIATU2A: Embracing Sustainability through Certification in the Natural Stone Life-Cycle: Details of the NSC Standard for Dimensional Stone

This workshop, brought to you by the Natural Stone Council, will explain how members of the dimensional stone industry can fully engage and ultimately benefit from the production and sales of dimensional stone products certified to the new Environmental Standard for Dimensional Stone.

MIATU3T: Introducing iPad Apps for the Design Community

Connecting with the design community is a great way to expand your business. Several iPad apps featuring natural stone have recently been introduced to help educate the design community.  Learn why you need to be familiar with this electronic medium and how it can impact your business.

MIAWE1T: The New Stone Documentary

Debuting at StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas, this fascinating program, “From Caves to  Kitchens : A History of Man & Stone,” traces the history and use of natural stone and its evolution from a material for basic living necessities like weapons, tools and primitive shelter to the world’s most beautiful, durable and sustainable building material for commercial and residential projects.

MIAWE2T: Tech Tips: Dealing with Freeze/Thaw and Climate Change

Freeze/thaw degradation of natural stone is a commonly misunderstood issue.  Learn about stone selection for freeze/thaw environments, vertical versus horizontal application differences, regional frequencies of cycling and US versus European test protocols.
