HomeNewsBusiness Enrichment Center (BEC) to debut at Surfaces 2013

Surfaces 2013 is introducing the Business Enrichment Center (BEC), a dedicated area on the show floor offering attendees a focused environment for education, networking, and socializing.

Within the BEC, sponsored by GE Capital, attendees will have the opportunity to sit and relax in a hip and comfortable atmosphere and hear from key industry speakers on the Education Stage as they share advice and ideas on topics from which retailers can benefit and have the ability to easily and effectively implement in their businesses. Some of the topics that will be presented include: “Closing Sales with Consumer Financing,” presented by Brian Copps, relationship manager, GE Capital; “Don’t Compete on Price, Compete on Value,” presented by Sam Allman; “How to Compete with the Big Box Retailers,” presented by James Dion, and “Minute to Win it – Understanding Your Customer in 60 Seconds or Less,” presented by Caren McCabe.

The World Floor Covering Association (WFCA), whose booth is adjacent to the BEC, will also present topics on the Education Stage, featuring speakers Tony King and Kathryn Baird, representing WFCA Direct, as well as John Simonson from WebStream Dynamics.

In addition to the Education Stage area, the BEC will feature a Social and Technology Trends Lounge where attendees can learn about the current trends in the world of Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, blogs and mobile apps and understand best practices as well as the benefits of incorporating them into their overall marketing plans. Some of the topics that will be presented in this area include, “Five Easy Ways to Use Linkedin to Improve Your SEO,” “Twitter as Your B2B Secret Weapon,” and “Three Rookie Facebook Mistakes That Will Kill Your Business.” Floor Trends Magazine is the Official Publication Sponsor of the Technology Trends area.

The BEC will also feature a daily cash bar so attendees can enjoy a beverage while taking advantage of all the area’s activities. Cash bars will be open during show hours.

“Providing our attendees every avenue to gain information and knowledge on how to improve their businesses and make them more successful is a huge focus for Surfaces,” said Amie Gilmore, associate show director, Surfaces. “The Business Enrichment Center supports this focus yet does it in a relaxing, less formal manner.”

Access to the BEC is free to all attendees and is included with their registration packages. To register and receive more information about Surfaces, please visit www.Surfaces.com. Online registration is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

Surfaces will be held Jan. 28 to 31, 2013 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
