Singer Jewel, HomerWood create master bedroom retreat

Singer/songwriter Jewel and her rodeo champ husband, Ty Murray, created a warm, lived-in look for their new master bedroom in their recently renovated ranch in Stephenville, Texas, and personally selected Character Flooring from HomerWoodPremium Hardwood Flooring.

The couple worked with Kim Lewis, a designer known for her work on the television show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” to create a home with a warm décor, yet eclectic style for themselves and baby son Kase.  Throughout the house, Lewis focused on a non-frilly décor using elements inspired by the 2,400-acre ranch and farm animals, including a wall made from salvaged-barnwood, rough-hewn Tibetan carved wooden stands and a kitchen island designed to resemble a giant packing crate.

“The rough, hand-scraped quality of the HomerWood floors fit the character of the home, and we loved the fact that the floors are made in the U.S.A.,” Lewis said. “The hardwood floors reveal all of the tree’s natural imperfections, including original markings, distinctive graining and inherent characteristics.”

In the bedroom is HomerWood’s Amish Hand-Scraped Smoked Oak Graphite Oil finished floor. Created from carefully selected hardwood planks and scraped by hand, these HomerWood floors preserve each board’s natural characteristics.  Each plank bears the signature of the Amish craftsman who created it.

HomerWood has pioneered many innovations in the hardwood flooring industry including Character Grade, Amish Hand-Scraped and Smoked Specialties flooring. From classic to contemporary designs, 54 premium visuals complement various interiors. Specialty collections and custom options also are available.

“Since each tree provides its own unique natural characteristics, each floor is unique, whether it offers a smooth or highly-textured finish,”  Lewis said.  “These floors allow you to make a very personal statement in your home while not compromising quality or value.”
