HomeNewsArmstrong introduces its newest hardwood collection: Performance Plus

Performance Plus, Armstrong Commercial Flooring’s newest hardwood collection, offers superior durability, added scratch-resistance and Lock&Fold technology for easy installations, blending the exquisite styling of natural hardwood with the enhanced performance needed in today’s demanding commercial environments.

Performance Plus floors are made with an acrylic-infusion process that makes them 2.5 times harder than non-infused hardwood floors of similar species, according to Armstrong, which then applies an exclusive Nano technology finish that prevents scratches and stains while highlighting the wood’s natural character.  The finish itself has a strong chemical bond offering higher protection to wood from topical scratches and stains. Performance Plus is available in six wood species and 30 colors to ensure that there is an option for every type of interior, including Birch, Cherry, Hickory, Maple, Oak and Walnut.  The protective finish of these engineered floors makes them easy to maintain.

“Commercial floors by their very nature are subject to the toughest demands in any building,” said Milton Goodwin, vice president, product management – hardwood. “Performance Plus will appeal to commercial specifiers and interior designers alike for its featured durability, warranty and multiple installation options.”

The collection can be installed mechanically with Armstrong’s Lock & Fold click system or with either staples or glue. Performance Plus is backed by a 10-year commercial warranty.

Armstrong’s commercial hardwood portfolio is centered on a variety of species and stains because wood and wood finishes figure so highly in many design environments.  Hardwood flooring for commercial spaces has never been more popular. Hardwood brings an elegant, sensual appeal to any interior. Armstrong’s newest collection of beautiful hardwoods is intended to meet the high design needs and the traffic demands of retail stores, hospitality areas, educational institutions, military housing and more.

Armstrong’s wood floor collections are attuned to the needs of the commercial market.  Notes principal designer Sara M. Babinski: “Commercial designers want to create interiors that are warm, inviting and stimulating – especially for signature spaces and retail selling environments.  Wood grain, texture, contrast and color all add drama.  These are what we emphasize in the Armstrong hardwood portfolio because these are what lift the eyes and the emotions.”

Armstrong is the largest producer of hardwood flooring in the world. “Our size allows us to offer customers a complete hardwood portfolio, including acrylic-impregnated products with enhanced performance, premium exotics, and domestic species with hand-sculpted, distressed, or traditional visuals,” said Goodwin.
