DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR, the world’s second largest floor covering show, is shivering with excitement for the opening of this three-day 14th edition of the show on the 27th March in Shanghai.

“Shanghai and DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR: what an exciting time and place! While there are other floor covering shows around the world, only few can equal the energy, size and breadth of product offered here.” says Jim Gould, one of the most authoritative experts of the floor industry.

Set to host more than 1,100 exhibitors coming from 30 different countries, in a number of pavilions increased up to 11, and a total exhibition area of 127,000 square meters; ready to welcome more than 40,000 visitors, with an amount of 25,000 pre-registered professionals coming from around 120 different countries, as statistics claim right before the exhibition opening; covering not only the whole flooring industry production chain, but also its related industries at once, this exhibition is a unique event to attend. DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR is the place to both experiment the newest trends and products and explore the most promising markets and opportunities: the place to “Floor the Future” and the occasion to also visit potential suppliers.

Since the Chinese government has shifted its focus from an export oriented economy to domestic consumption, China is becoming one of the world’s most important markets. China is already the second largest luxury market in the world and, according to statistics, between 1,600 billion and 1,900 billion square meters of floor covering will be needed each year between now and 2025 to meet the needs caused by the urban migration in China (Floor Covering Institute, China Briefing: the growing opportunity).

Notwithstanding the wood section still being DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR signature, the resilient/vinyl/LVT segment is actually the show’s fastest growing segment for the second year in a row. “LVT is a good example of an Asian innovation. It is a product on the rise because it offsets the drawbacks from a laminate floor.” says Thomas Baert, Chinafloors owner. Many international well-know brands, such as Lumber Liquidators and Unilin BVBA, will exhibit LVT products at DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR.

The exhibition is coming at a particular moment since the concern of ITC, which affected 2011 sales, has passed and regular business can continue. DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR, with its 14 years of accumulated knowledge as the floor leading professional exhibition, has given for years its fundamental contribution to the steady and healthy development of the industry. As always, the exhibition will be the venue for a number of conferences and conventions, starting from the 2012 Annual Meeting for Wood Flooring Committee of CNFPIA and China Wood Flooring Industry Development Forum which will be held the afternoon before DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR opening at the Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai. On the 27th March the Wood Flooring Distribution Convention will be a unique platform for agents to find suitable brands and channels and to discover new markets in third-ties and forth-tier cities, as

1well as an important occasion for the improvement of distributors’ group. Finally, just to mention one more event among the many organized during these three days, on the 28th March, China (Qinghai) International Carpet Exhibition Promotion Conference will be held at SNIEC, Hall W3.

The carpet segment is another important benchmark for this 14th edition leveraging on the participation of many country pavilions of the leading nations for carpet industry. Turkey is coming back to Shanghai in full force in 2012 with more than 400 square meters of exhibits. You will find all the newest products coming from this country, showcased in Hall W1 (booth C02, C15, C27 and C45). During the show, 11 producers and dealers of the highest quality hand-made and machine-made carpets from Turkey, such as Agacan Istanbul, Korhan Hali, and the I.C.I international Carpet Investment, will present their unique collections to DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR’s visitors. Pakistan, present at the show with a country pavilion for the first time, will showcase the 7th largest hand-made carpet in the world among a wide variety of other products, and Belgium, the world’s biggest carpet exporting country, will strengthen its presence at DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR 2012 with its own country pavilion as well. Thanks to Flanders Investment & Trade and Fedustria, which has joined forces for the twelfth time to bring together under a national pavilion the legendary expertise of Flanders based companies, sixteen companies are exhibiting under this united front: Alfa 96, Belgotex International, Devos-Caby, EOC Belgium, H.B.C Management, Ideal Fibres & Fabrics Wielsbeke, Lano Carpets, Mc Three Carpets, Mercury Flooring, Oostro Carpets, Osta Carpets, Ragolle, Ravel textiles, Tapibel, Vanhoutte Carpets and Verbatex.

DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR 2012 is set to “Floor the Future”, and with a range of associated exhibitions, namely China Green Building (GBC), R+T, and Material Experience, and high level conferences, such as the international Shanghai Architect Fair (SAF), Shanghai Real Estate Integrated (SIR), and the Eco City Summit (ECS), this exhibition is going to be an important investment in time and energy for all those industry related businessmen and experts who will join this big meeting in Shanghai from the 27th to the 29th of March, 2012.

Welcome everybody to DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR 2012, today’s opportunities of new products and new partnerships. Discover and Enjoy!
