New TEC mortar solves large format tile installation challenges

Aurora, Ill.—H.B. Fuller Construction Products Inc. announces the launch of TEC Ultimate Large Tile Mortar for large tile installation challenge.

The productaddresses difficulties faced by installers, including:

  • Slumping on floors:  Large, heavy tiles on floors slump in mortar, creating unevenness or lippage across the installation and often resulting in tripping hazards.
  • Slipping on walls: Tiles on walls can slip unless mechanically held in place, creating extra labor steps, wasting time and costing money.
  • Lack of full transfer: Tiles need 100% mortar coverage to avoid hollow spots and bond failures.

With the introduction of TEC Ultimate Large Tile Mortar, installers have one product that provides a simple solution, whether the tile is large or extra-large, thick or ultra-thin, on walls or floors. In addition to its non-slip, non-slump and superior transfer characteristics, the new mortar is also formulated to be used in medium-bed or thinset applications.

“With the continued popularity of oversized tiles, we saw an opportunity to better address the needs of installers,” said Tracy Muller, senior market manager, H.B. Fuller Construction Products.  “Our solution simplifies the installation of large tile, helps installers save time and money, and supports high quality workmanship in the finished job.”

Available in gray or white formulas, TEC Ultimate Large Tile Mortar contains recycled materials, emits no VOCs and exceeds ANSI A118.4 and A118.11 specifications. It is offered in 40 lb. bags that provide the same coverage as a 50 lb. bag and is available for purchase immediately.
