PLAINVIEW, N.Y.—Members of the Long Island Floor Covering Association (LIFCA) met here recently to elect the organization’s 2011 executive board, as well as to learn about different cleaning methods for wall-to-wall carpets and area rugs.
“One of the most valuable tools any business person has at his or her disposal is a network of contacts and a source of education on products, practices and regulations that pertain to that person’s industry,” said Joe Bianculli, president. “Since 1959, LIFCA has been that tool for countless members of our industry, including retailers, flooring contractors, distributors, manufacturers, inspectors and installers.”
Aside from Bianculli, the 2011 LIFCA board includes Arnold Graff, treasurer; Alan Hutt and Arden Socolov, trustees; Stephen Rockfeld, Sal Calamia and Barbara Napolitano, directors, and attorney-at-large Marty Silver. The new board will be installed at LIFCA’s next meeting in February.
Hosted by LIFCA member Brian Kornet of Fabra-Cleen, the seminar focused on techniques and chemicals available for spot cleaning and suggested “private label” cleaning products for retailers to give away to new carpet buyers.
Bianculli also thanked long-time LIFCA member Richard Snow, who will be relocating to Georgia in 2011, for his service to the association, while welcoming new member Michael Orlando of Diamond Platinum Rugs.
