Washington—The NAW Institute for Distribution Excellence and IBM’s Institute for Business Value (IBV) have announced the ninth edition of the wholesale distribution strategy report will be released in late November this year.

Facing the Forces of Change: Decisive Actions for an Uncertain Economy provides wholesaler-distributors, manufacturers, suppliers, and their customers with strategic insights into the key business and economic trends affecting the wholesale distribution supply chain through 2015. It also describes the innovative strategies and tactics that wholesaler-distributors can use in response to these trends.

“Published every three years since 1982, our Facing the Forces of Change series continues to be the only major research study to analyze the future of wholesale distribution within multiple lines of trade,” said Ron Schreibman, NAW Institute executive director. “This brand-new edition and the brand-new partnership that the NAW Institute has established with IBM’s Institute for Business Value to bring this edition to publication will continue to build upon our 28-year tradition of providing excellence in research for the wholesale distribution industry.”

Facing the Forces of Change: Decisive Actions for an Uncertain Economy integrates a broad set of information, ranging from executives’ opinions to extensive external and objective data from outside the wholesale distribution industry. The report includes in-depth interviews with wholesale distribution executives, manufacturers, customers, consultants, financial analysts, professors, and trade association executives.

It was researched and written by Guy Blissett, a wholesale distribution expert at IBM’s Institute for Business Value and NAW Institute Fellow. Blissett will review the report’s findings during sessions, panel discussions, and roundtables at the NAW Executive Summit, Jan. 25 to 27, 2011, in Washington, DC. “We’re excited to partner with the NAW Institute for Distribution Excellence on this landmark wholesale distribution industry future trends research report,” said Blissett. “We believe our report will help distribution executives gain key strategic insights about actions they should take over the next five years to differentiate themselves during this period of continued uncertainty and volatility.”
